Happy Birthday Evelyn

That's right our little girl is a year old. And wouldn't you know it, we had a get together to celebrate the day. Here is the Birthday Girl (and her dad)

Evelyn loved having a whole cake all to herself

although she didn't eat it all she did give a valiant effort.

Having a birthday in the middle of the week means having a huge party on the weekend followed by another party on your actual birth date. Look how happy she is to be having a second first birthday party

just like Max on his first birthday Evelyn tried to put out the candle with her finger. (ouch)

Day Out With Thomas

Max loves his trains, so we decided to drive 200+km to St. Thomas to see Thomas the Tank Engine. Highlights from the trip include: walking through a bubble storm created by

a bubble making truck.

And the pay off. Going for a ride on a train pulled by Thomas

Also there was a petting zoo.

That pretty much sums up the day. A lot of Thomas plus some other stuff thrown in the mix. We lined up to have a photo taken with Thomas but they shut the gate just in front of us. There was no way were were waiting around for 30 minutes in the 30+° heat just for a photo. So we piled into the air conditioned car and went home.
