E's Birthday Party

This one is for Sarah (who I think might be the only one actually reading this). Sarah had mentioned that Max had some big cake and all Ev got was a little bowl of ice cream. So I wanted to show Sarah (and Ev) that they weren't getting "hosed".

Evelyn actually got two parties. The first was the small little thing here at home. Then on the weekend we went down to the Bluffs and had a BBQ.

And now on to the photos

First up is a 360° pano turned into a planet of a small beach

Here we have E blowing out the candles. It took her a long time to finally get them out.

But when she did she was very happy to have done it.

Here we have Ev eating her cake

And then eating the head off a mouse

This is the cake that Carrie and I (mostly Carrie) put together for Evelyn, because she kept telling us she wanted a "mousie cake)

BBQ (check) Beach (check) Balloons (check)

Another shot of the cake (well done Carrie)

Jacob (why include this shot? because I think it's funny)

This was E's present from us. And she absolutely loved it. If you have your hand in front of the dog or pet it, the thing jumps and spins in a circle while barking. (It will be nice when those batteries go flat)

And that was Ev's birthday

Life and how we live it

With Ev's birthday coming up in less then a week I figured I should post at least one pic from Max's birthday. Max had asked for a Thomas cake, and thanks to his creative mom he got it.

Out for a family walk.

The MythBusters came to town and Carrie and I went to see them. I even got to go up on stage.

This is a photo taken by Adam Savage and posted on his Twitter feed. 4th row back you can see Carrie and I.

Max relaxing enjoying the day,

Ev, a little less relaxed.

We had a visitor this spring

and we sent him back with a few friends.

This is a Thank You card Max and I made for Aunt Rebecca for being the Best Aunt Rebecca there is.

It was a little bit of trial and error before we actually got it right.

Ev, she looks a bit like she is guarding the path. "None Shall Pass!"

Birds

I've had these photos just sitting here for quite some time and even though they are from a few different outings I've decided to clump them all together into one post.

Yeah I know none of them are amazing but I'm working on it. Maybe one day I'll land that Nat Geo job.

Sick Boy

It's never nice when your kids are sick. This is a picture of Max when he was sick a while back. He basically either sat on the couch or was in bed sleeping for the entire day.

Max resting on the couch watching a movie.

Presqu'ile Provincial Park

We visited Presqu'ile Provincial Park a while back. Figured it was time to post some pics from the trip.

First up is a duck flying over the reeds.

Next is Max, and his cousin Jacob, flying over the boardwalk

Time to slow things down and just take a stroll.

A bird (not sure what kind)

Another bird, this one is a is a Tern. These guys were diving into the water and coming up with fish. (sorry, no photo of that though)

Algonquin Park 2012

I've skipped ahead a few months from where I left off but thought I'd post something a bit more recent. This past week or so I took a trip to Algonquin with Mike, Jay and Danny, thanks again guys for inviting me to go along. I'm not one to take a fishing trip but I have to say it was a lot of fun. And I even caught a few fish. I won't tell you any tales about how big the fish I caught were but suffice it to say there were probably not the biggest fish in the lake. Lets get to the photos.

This first one is obviously a seagull so there isn't much to tell about this one

And here we have a fire, once again not much to tell

This is a 360° photo turned into a "world." This shows our campground on our island and the water, sky and land mass across the water.

I bought a camping hammock before the trip and was dying to try it out. So on the second night I set it up and spent the night in it. This is the view I had when I woke up. Couldn't really ask for a better view to wake up to.

On the second day in the "Park" we took a 5 hour canoe trip involving a few long portages (1.5KM and 2.5KM were the longer ones with a few 400M and 200M ones thrown in for good measure.) This photo here is a 360° shot of me standing on a beaver dam along the Petawawa River.

I then took the image and made another little "world."

This is a shot from our island at dawn.

A bit of a wider shot from our camp.

A night shot from our camp.

This is a canoe.

And lastly we have a night shot/star trails shot. (The red in the tree is from the fire in the pit behind the camera.)

Food

Not so long ago, okay so it was towards the beginning of March, Heather was kind enough to email me  a modified version of her pizza dough recipe. Then, using the gift card Cameron and Sarah had given us for Christmas, we (I) went out and bought a pizza stone and pizza peel. One last trip to the store for some food stuffs and Voila! Pizza is served.

We went out for Chinese and for whatever reason the kids would not eat. They just wanted to play around. The next day when we had the noodles for lunch the kids couldn't get enough of them.

Peanut Butter Cups, does it get any better then that? Those are mine on the plate and Michael Smith's in the book.

Winter Day

Okay that last one was a test, to see who's been paying attention. Apparently no one was. Carrie had to tell me that I had already posted those photos. oops

So this time I'll try to post something new.

Once upon this past winter we went to the park behind our place and had fun playing in the snow

Max loves picking up sticks, and even with the playground covered in snow he managed to find a stick to take down the slide with him. (nothing unsafe about that)

With all that snow the slides were extra fast and the kids shot out of them like a bullet (a very slow bullet)

It was hilarious watching them go down the slides again and again. I should have measured the distance because they might have set some world records.
